I know a lot of people will hate me for this, but it’s my personal opinion. I come from a history of physical abuse, not only from family, but from people I’ve dated. All different people and different situations, but one thing they all had in common was to make me feel scared and make it seem like they have power and control over me. I give Rihanna respect for forgiving Chris, but I really don’t think she should have collaborated with him in a potential smash hit. From what I’ve read in news and Chris Brown’s personal twitter, it seems like he always has to have his way and that everyone owes him something. With this ‘Birthday Cake’ remix, it could potentially be used as ammo against Rihanna, he could possibly tell her that she owes him for giving her another number one song. This duet sends a bad message for anyone in an abusive relationship like how I was. That no matter what, or no matter how long, they will always have the power. Which is the wrong message. Rihanna could have had anyone else on that song, but instead she went to someone who didn’t deserve the honor. I’m not saying that they’re going to date again, I’m just stating that it’s a bad message and it is very much is a reason to give Chris power over Rihanna again. Rihanna has so many young people that look up to her, and doing this with someone who beat her, isn’t sending the right message.

This is the main opinion, not the unpopular one. The whole Rihanna and Brown collab thing has to be an attention gimmick. There’s no way producers would let them do this for any other reason; they’re selling to a specific target audience; the dumb.
